- Reve Boheme have been at the forefront of the Danish Gypsy Jazz scene for well over a decade. Django Reinhardt visited Copenhagen just before the outbreak of World War II (I don’t mean to imply it was his fault), and must have left a strong impression, as the music is still alive and well there today.
- They made their debut in the renound Gypsy Jazz venue Bistro d’Eustache in Paris in 1999.
- Reve Boheme translates as Bohemian dream.
- Boheme is a reference to the romantic travelling lifestyle commonly associated with String Swing music. It is NOT a reference to the historical region of the Roman empire, the Guatamalen rock group Bohemia Suburbana or the Punjabi Rapper Bohemia
- I will be playing with Reve Boheme next week: On Thursday, 10th October, 2013 at 8:00pm in Hugo’s Vinkælder in Køge, and On Friday, 11th October, 2013 at 7:30pm in Jazz Cup in Copenhagen.
- The bands regular line up is:
- Jens Fuglsang (Vocal & Lead Guitar)
- Finn Poulsen (Harmonica & Vocal)
- Robert Pilgaard
- Jesper Riis (Bass)
- Their Latest release is Django Goes North, which is their fifth release
- For more information visit Reve Boheme‘s website
- Did I mention that I am playing with them next week?
- The gig I’m playing with them on Friday the 11th is part of Copenhagen’s night of culture. The gig is completely free to get in, and free to get out!

We are now taking bookings for Bop Soup between the 11th and 15th of April 2014. This time we aim to suceed in booking enough gigs to get our friend and colleague Bert Boeren to come over from Holland and add his virtuoso trombone magic to an already remarkable quartet.

Bert Boeren was all set to come to Copenhagen next week for a series of Bebop concerts that would blow the socks off of anyone lucky enough to be in the audience. We are still playing two of the concerts with a superb quartet that was put together to feature the world renowned trombonist. Bert, however, will not be with us.
Unfortunately, due to a number of venues making somewhat late alterations to there live music program, we have had to ask Bert if he would mind doing this tour at another time, when we will book a run of concerts that reflect his stature in the music world. We simply felt that he deserved better, even though he was perfectly willing to fulfil his promise and come and play the two concerts that we have remaining for next week.

In the summer of 2008 a few, short, video clips of an acoustic jazz duo received over 100,000 views on YouTube and the attention of American Express with regard to an advertising campaign. The combination of  the English born bassist Peter Williams (known for his contribution to Woody Allen’s Grammy winning soundtrack for Midnight in Paris) and Danish vibraphonist Jacob Svensson had some serious appeal.
With Jazzy Shorts Peter Williams has composed a collection of original tunes to explore the sound-scape that such an exposed and somewhat eccentric combination of instruments makes possible.
