After 15 years as a professional musician, after having worked on countless sessions in a myriad of styles, after having toured Denmark for three years in a circus band, Peter Williams has, with About Time, realised his ambition of releasing an album as a band leader. Here he has focused on the jazz of the 50’s and 60’s Bebop/Hard Bop era as a source of inspiration. But attentive ears will pick up on influences far more contemporary than Sonny Rollins, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus and Cannonball Adderley. James Brown, Lou Reed and Muddy Waters have also made their mark.

This is a collection of new standards for contemporary jazz artists to pick up and make their own.
